The owner of San Diego Hardwoods is a second-generation floor craftsman who began in the 1980s, learning the trade directly from his family. He refined his skills on solid wood installations in Colorado, working in architecturally striking log and mountain homes at a time when real wood flooring meant nailed-down installations, belt sanders, and buffers. Oil-based finishes were the standard, and dust containment barely existed. That early training in traditional hardwood installation set a foundation that is rare today, as much of the industry has shifted toward vinyl plank, floating floors, and pre-finished products. San Diego Hardwoods remains a continuation of that tradition, still installing genuine nailed-down wood floors for homeowners who want a premium surface built to last and worthy of being handed down to the next generation.
Relocating to San Diego
In 1990, he founded San Diego Hardwoods after moving to Southern California. Here he adapted his expertise to the wide variety of hardwoods found in San Diego homes, including oak, maple, walnut, and other domestic and exotic species. Installation remains a core skill, but the company emphasizes refinishing, historical restoration, and repairs using era-specific species, grades, and dimensions.
